AI Automation Consultant for Marketing and Ecommerce Teams

Your week disappears into repetitive work. Copying leads into spreadsheets. Pulling the same report every Monday. Answering the same question for the tenth time. This work can run on its own, with you still in charge.

I am David. I have run SEO and paid campaigns since 2013 and ecommerce for longer. Since 2026 I build AI agents and automations for marketing teams: reports, lead handling, catalog updates, content ops. You work directly with me. No account managers, no handoffs.

What an AI Automation Consultant Actually Does

An AI automation consultant finds the repetitive steps in how your team works and connects your tools so they run on their own. Not magic. Triggers, workflows and clear rules about when a human takes over.

What I do exactly

  • Audit your tools and processes to find the tasks worth automating
  • Design each workflow: what triggers it, what it does, where a human steps in
  • Build automations and AI agents in n8n, Make or Zapier
  • Connect your CRM, email platform, spreadsheets and ad accounts
  • Set up dashboards in Looker Studio so you can see what the systems do
  • Document everything so your team can run it without me

My background

I have done SEO and SEM since 2013. I was Head of Ecommerce at SelfPackaging, Grupo Brownie and Mopec. At Heymondo I ran SEO and SEM for Spain, Italy, France and Portugal; at IDFinance (Moneyman), for Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Poland and Georgia, with hreflang and link building per country. At ChovA I brought in clients for architecture studios. Since 2026 I focus on AI agents and automation for marketing. I live in Andorra and invest in startups.

Where AI Automation Pays Off First

Not everything should be automated. Start with work that is repeated and follows clear rules.

  • Lead handling: new form submissions sorted, scored and routed to the right person
  • Support: common questions answered from your real knowledge base, with an escape to a human
  • Reporting: weekly reports pulled from GA4, ad platforms and your CRM, written in plain language
  • Catalog and content ops: product descriptions drafted, translated and checked before publishing
  • Content ops: briefs, first drafts and internal linking suggestions for your SEO for AI strategy

Four Workflows I Build, From Trigger to Output

Real examples, the kind I build week in, week out.

1. Monday marketing report, written for you

Trigger: every Monday at 8am. The agent pulls data from GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads and your email platform, then writes a short summary: what moved, what broke, what to check. Output: an email and a dashboard. You read it in five minutes, not an hour.

2. Lead triage and first reply

Trigger: a new form submission. The agent reads it, scores it against your criteria, writes a first reply in your tone and logs it in the CRM. A human reviews anything unusual first. No lead sits in an inbox over the weekend.

3. Product description drafts

Trigger: a new product in PrestaShop or WordPress. The agent drafts a description from your specs and past products, in your voice, ready for you to edit. Output: a draft in the CMS, not a document nobody opens.

4. Support answers from your own docs

Trigger: a customer question. The agent answers using only your help center and past tickets, and says when it is not sure. Output: an answer with sources, or a clean handoff to a person.

Classic Automation vs AI Agent: What to Use When

People say "AI agent" for everything. Most of the time a plain automation is cheaper, faster and easier to fix.

Classic automationAI agent
Best forFixed steps, same every timeTasks with judgment calls
ExampleNew form row to a spreadsheetTriage leads, draft replies, flag the odd ones
Breaks whenA website or process changesThe input is messy or unusual
NeedsA trigger and a pathA prompt, guardrails and a human check
Running costLow, mostly setup timePlatform plus model API usage

My rule: automate the boring parts first. Add AI only where a decision has to be made.

AI agent vs chatbot vs classic automation

A chatbot answers inside a script. Classic automation follows fixed rules: if A happens, do B. An AI agent adds one more layer: it reads context, chooses between several options and can use tools, such as your email, a spreadsheet or your CRM, to finish a multi-step task. That is why it fits better when the task changes a little each time, and why I always keep a human review step before anything leaves your company.

Common use cases in a company

  • Customer support: sorting enquiries, drafting replies and flagging what is urgent.
  • Marketing and content: recurring reports, text reviews and repetitive SEO tasks.
  • Sales: organizing contacts, preparing meeting summaries and keeping the CRM up to date.
  • Admin: reading invoices or emails and moving the data where it belongs.
  • Data analysis: pulling numbers from several sources into one dashboard.

How I Work: Audit, Prototype, Launch, Maintain

  1. 1
Audit. Two weeks, maybe less. I map your tools and pick the two or three tasks worth automating. You get a written plan with honest effort estimates.
  2. 2
Prototype. I build one workflow end to end with you watching. We break it on purpose and fix it together. You see real output before you commit.
  3. 3
Launch. The workflow runs with a human check at first. We keep the check until the numbers say it is safe to loosen it.
  4. 4
Maintain. Things break when tools update. I document everything and stay on call, or I train your team to run it alone.

What Your First Engagement Delivers

No slide decks about the future of AI. You get:

  • A written audit of your processes, ranked by effort and payoff
  • One working automation, live, doing real work
  • A plain-language doc so your team can run it
  • A list of what I would automate next, and what I would leave alone

Whether you need an ai implementation consultant for a one-off build or ongoing help, the first month looks like this.

Data, Privacy and Human Oversight

Your data stays yours. Workflows run on the tools you already use. Nothing gets sent anywhere it does not need to go.

For UK and EU data I follow GDPR principles: minimum data, clear purpose, human review on sensitive output. I am not a lawyer and do not certify compliance. If you need legal sign-off, I work with your legal team.

The honest part: AI makes things up sometimes. Every agent I build has guardrails and a human check where it matters. Slower is better than confidently wrong.

What It Costs

I do not publish a rate card, and I am suspicious of people who do. Price depends on a few things:

  • How many tools need connecting
  • How messy the data is
  • How much human review you want
  • Whether you need dashboards and documentation

Those are enterprise agency rates, not mine. Tell me what you need and I will give a fixed number before I start.

When It Makes Sense to Hire Me

Good fits:

  • You are a small marketing team and the same reports, lead handling and updates eat days every month
  • You run an ecommerce store and the catalog work never ends. See my ecommerce consultant page for that
  • You want AI help from someone who has run campaigns, not just prompts. My digital marketing consultant background is the foundation
  • You tried a tool, it half works, and you need a person to finish the job

AI consultant or agency?

If you search for ai consulting services you will find both. An agency sells a team and a retainer, good for big builds. A consultant is one person who audits, builds and hands over. For ai consulting for small business, a consultant usually fits better: you get the person who actually builds, not a profile page and a handoff call. Agencies suit teams that need many hands at once or strict compliance.

As an ai consultant for business teams, I fit best when the problem is clear and the tools already exist. Not a good fit:

  • You want a full-time head of AI. I work project by project
  • You need legal or compliance certification. I will not pretend to be that
  • You want results guaranteed in writing. Anyone who promises that is guessing

FAQ

What does an AI automation consultant do?

I find the repetitive tasks in your marketing or ecommerce operation and build systems that do them: lead handling, reporting, catalog updates, support answers. You keep control, I build.

How much does AI automation consulting cost?

It depends on how many tools are involved, how messy the data is and how much human review you want. I give a fixed number after a short audit. Those are enterprise agency rates.

What is the difference between an AI consultant and an AI automation agency?

An agency gives you a team and a retainer. A consultant gives you one person who audits, builds and hands over. Agencies suit big enterprises with compliance needs. Consultants suit smaller teams who want to start fast and stop cleanly.

What should the first engagement deliver?

A written audit, one working automation doing real work, and documentation so your team can run it. Not a strategy deck. Something live.

Do AI automation consultants publish their rates?

Most do not, me included. Fixed pricing only makes sense after I see your tools and processes. Anyone quoting blind is guessing.

Do I need developers in-house?

No. I build in n8n, Make or Zapier, made for non-developers. If custom code is ever needed, I will tell you straight.
